Box Score

The Hamilton College women's hockey team came all the way back from a 2-0 third-period deficit to hand visiting Bowdoin College a 3-2 overtime loss Saturday afternoon at Russell Sage Rink. The Continentals, who are ranked 10th in D3hockey.com's poll, are now 12-6-2 overall and in second place in the NESCAC standings with a 7-4-1 mark.

Sara Taffe '17 capped Hamilton's comeback with her first career overtime goal, knocking the puck home after a shot into traffic by Megan Ahern '17 just 45 seconds into the extra period.

The Continentals outshot the visitors 13-2 in the third period, picking up a pair of goals. Michaela Giuttari '20 got things started just under five minutes in with a power-play goal. The NESCAC's leading rookie scorer, Giuttari netted her fourth goal of the season with Taffe and Katie Parkman '17 assisting on the play. Parkman's assist was her team-best 11th.

With 3:14 to go in the third period, Emily Williams '19 took advantage of traffic in front of the net and notched her third goal of the season to tie the score.

Sam Walther '18 kept Bowdoin scoreless over the final 33:23 and finished with 16 saves. Sophia Lattanzio stopped 26 shots.

The Polar Bears (11-7-3 overall, 6-5-2 NESCAC) needed just 3:13 to get on the board with nifty passing from Kimmy Ganong and Brooke Solomon setting up Marissa Fichter for the game's first goal.

Brigit Bergin doubled Bowdoin's lead at the 7:22 mark of the second with Tala Glass assisting on the play.

The Continentals play their final home games of the regular season next weekend, hosting Amherst (ranked eighth nationally in USCHO.com's poll).
