Hamilton College dropped a 7-2 decision against Bowdoin College in the first round of the 2017 NESCAC Men's Squash Championship at Amherst College's Davenport Squash Courts on Friday night.
Callum Sondhi '20 and Jonathan Ruth '18 were the winners for the Continentals. Sondhi lost the first game against Bowdoin's Satya Butler but won the next three by scores of 11-6, 11-9 and 12-10 at the second position. Ruth outlasted Arjun Dravid in five games at the ninth position, clinching the match with an 11-8 victory in the fifth game.
The teams were evenly matched as four matches ended in four games and two more went to five. Hamilton (4-10 overall) is the 10th seed for the championship and the Polar Bears are the seventh seed. The Continentals are 29th in this week's College Squash Association Team Rankings and Bowdoin (4-10) is 26th.
Hamilton moves on to the ninth place bracket in the consolation round at Smith College on Saturday, Feb. 4. Hamilton will play Tufts University at 10:30 a.m. and Connecticut College at approximately 4:30 p.m. Tufts is the ninth seed and Connecticut Coll. is the 11th seed for the championship.
