Box Score Bowdoin College scored the first 17 points and the Polar Bears went on to post an 88-46 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Friday night.
Lauren Getman '18 paced the Continentals (9-10, 2-5 NESCAC) with 13 points and seven rebounds. Mia Caterisano '19 was a perfect 4 of 4 from the field and finished with a career-high nine points. Caroline Barrett '17 and Kendall Rallins '19 handed out three assists apiece.
Maddie Hasson made all 10 of her shot attempts and finished with 22 points for Bowdoin (16-3, 5-2), which is ranked 23rd in both the D3hoops.com and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Top 25 polls. The Polar Bears received 66 points from their bench, scored 32 points off 22 turnovers, had 23 second-chance points and owned a 49-24 advantage on the glass. Hannah Graham chipped in nine points and Kate Kerrigan added eight, and Marle Curle grabbed seven rebounds and handed out four assists.
Bowdoin -- winners of four straight games -- jumped out to a 17-0 lead and led by at least 15 points the rest of the night. Rachel Norton started the game with a jumper followed by a Lydia Caputi layup. Lauren Petit scored the next five points on a 3-pointer and a layup, and Abigail Kelly made it 11-0 with a jumper. Ally Silfen scored in the paint, Caputi made a basket from close range and Cordelia Stewart capped the run with two free throws with 2:02 left in the first quarter.
Mackenzie Aldridge '20 put Hamilton on the scoreboard on a jumper with 1:40 remaining in the first. Aldridge scored all four of the Continentals' points in the quarter as they were 2 of 15 from the floor in the opening 10 minutes.
Bowdoin led 22-4 after one quarter and 38-20 at the half. The Polar Bears exploded for 34 points in the third quarter as they shot 61.1 percent from the field including 5 of 8 from 3-point range. A free throw by Kelly midway through the third gave Bowdoin its first 30-point lead at 52-22 and a layup by Hasson with 1:12 to go put the Polar Bears ahead by more than 40 for the first time at 68-27. Bowdoin led 72-32 after three and captured its largest lead of the night of 44 points in the final minute. The Polar Bears finished 10 of 20 from beyond the arc.
Hamilton hosts Colby College for another NESCAC game on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 3 p.m. Barrett and Kate Bushell '17 will be honored before the game during a Senior Day ceremony. Bowdoin travels to Middlebury College for another conference contest on Saturday at 3 p.m.
