Ashley Capone, previously the director of volleyball operations and a marketing and events fellow at Colgate University, was named the assistant volleyball coach at Hamilton College in July 2021. She helps Head Coach Kristin Baker with all aspects of the program.

Capone had been responsible for the daily assistance of Colgate’s Division I women’s volleyball program since 2018. She coordinated and managed all logistical facets of team travel, supervised the daily operations of the volleyball office, and planned and developed team-affiliated community events and banquets. On the court, the Raiders posted an overall record of 46-25, and they went 31-9 in the Patriot League during Capone’s three seasons.

Prior to Colgate, Capone was an assistant coach and NCAA Division III compliance and eligibility intern at her alma mater, SUNY Brockport. In 2017 the Golden Eagles went 26-9, won the SUNYAC tournament title and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball Championship regionals. Brockport was even better in 2016 as the team boasted a 34-4 record and another conference crown, and advanced to an NCAA regional final on its home court.

Capone played two years at Brockport. In 2015 she helped lead the Golden Eagles to a 34-2 record including 9-0 in the SUNYAC, a conference title and the NCAA regional semifinals. She was selected for the all-conference team and made the first team as a middle blocker. She finished her 65-match career with 408 kills, 123 blocks and a .268 hitting percentage. Capone also played two seasons at Jefferson Community College where she was a two-time first team all-conference pick and a team captain for the 2012 Mid-State Athletic Conference champions.

Capone, who is from Lowville, N.Y., has her associate’s degree in mathematics and science with a concentration in allied health. She earned her bachelor’s (kinesiology, minor in psychology) and master’s (education with athletic administration concentration) degrees at Brockport.
