Stan "Buddy" Evans returned to the Hamilton College men's basketball coaching staff for the 2013-14 season. Evans had previously been an assistant coach with the Hamilton men's program from 1993 to 2004. He also served as an assistant men's basketball coach at Le Moyne College and SUNY Polytechnic.

Evans was the boys' basketball coach at Rome Free Academy from 1970 to 1992. His record was 241-198 and his Black Knights won three Central Oneida League titles and the 1974 Section III Class A championship. In 1986, Evans was Lou Carnesecca’s assistant coach during the Olympic Sports Festival in Louisiana.

Evans was inducted into the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011 and the Greater Utica Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. He is also a member of the Section III Basketball Hall of Fame and Rome Sports Hall of Fame. Evans is from Rome, N.Y., and graduated from Syracuse University.
