Bryan Mathews is in his second season as an assistant men's basketball coach at Hamilton College. Mathews has also been an assistant at Keuka College, SUNY Oswego, Elmira College and Keystone College since he graduated from Elmira in 2010.
At Keuka, Mathews helped guide the team to a record of 15-10 and the 2015 North Eastern Athletic Conference tournament semifinals. The Wolfpack posted an 11-6 conference record and recorded their highest win total in more than a decade. Mathews also served as the men's and women's golf coach at Keuka.
Mathews helped lead Oswego to a record of 17-10 as the Lakers advanced to the semifinals of the 2014 SUNYAC tournament. He helped develop a pair of all-conference players during his season in Oswego.
In two seasons at his alma mater, Mathews coached two all-conference players, a pair of 1,000-point scorers, the program's all-time leader in 3-pointers and another player who is on Elmira's top 10 career assists list. He was also the head coach for the junior varsity.
Mathews' first coaching job out of college was at Keystone where he helped the Giants post a 21-6 overall record, including 13-5 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference, and appeared in the 2011 conference tournament semifinals. The team achieved the first NCAA regional ranking in program history and he coached four all-conference players. He was also the head men's tennis coach.
Mathews was a three-time captain and three-year starter at guard for Elmira. He finished his 100-game career with 450 points and 241 assists, received the Booster Club Team MVP award after his senior season and was a four-time recipient of the EC Student-Athlete Honor Award.
Mathews hails from Horseheads, N.Y., and obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees from Elmira.
