Zachary Crane joined the Hamilton College staff as the pitching coach prior to the 2023 season. He previously served as a volunteer graduate assistant coach at Hilbert College.

Crane began his coaching career in the summer of 2020 as an intern for Team PAC, which is a travel organization based out of East Rochester, N.Y. During his time with Team PAC, Crane gave lessons to players between the ages of 13 and 18 and helped run team practices under the tutelage of former professional baseball player Dave Roth. Crane also coached Team PAC 15U at multiple tournaments that summer.

In the summer of 2021 and 2022, Crane was the pitching coach for the Geneva Red Wings in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL). He helped guide the Red Wings to a two-year record of 46-26 and a trip to the 2021 PGCBL semifinals.

Prior to coaching, the Auburn, N.Y., native spent four seasons at Hilbert College after transferring from Nova Southeastern University. In 2018 Crane became the first freshman in Hilbert baseball program history to be named to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) All-Tournament Team. The following season he led the AMCC with five complete games. As a junior he became the eighth pitcher in program history to surpass 100 career innings. Crane was named to the 2021 NCAA Division III Players to Watch List by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Magazine. He finished his Hilbert career second all-time in games started and ended up in the top six in 18 statistical categories.

Crane graduated from Hilbert in May 2021 with a bachelor's degree in sport industry management and recently earned his master's degree in sports administration from Canisius College.
