2019: Played in all nine games as a junior... Led the team in sacks (4), tackles for loss (13.5), yards for loss (43) and forced fumbles (2)... Ranked eighth in the NESCAC with 37 solo tackles, and finished the season with a personal-best 53 tackles... Recorded five (4 solo) tackles, including 1.5 sacks in a 37-24 win at Bowdoin on Sept. 14... Selected for the D3football.com Team of the Week on Oct. 1... Had nine (7 solo) tackles with 4.5 tackles for a loss of 12 yards in a 31-28 win over Amherst on Oct. 19... Named the NESCAC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 20... Part of a defensive unit that held Tufts to a season-low 37 yards rushing, helping Hamilton defeat the Jumbos 36-21 on Oct. 26... Totaled a career-high 12 (8 solo) tackles, including a personal-best 2.5 sacks at Middlebury, helping hold the Panthers to a season-low 112 passing yards on Nov. 2... Received All-NESCAC First Team honors.

2018: Played in all nine games during his sophomore year... Recorded seven (4 solo) tackles in a 33-29 win at Wesleyan on Sept. 29... Tallied a season-high 10 tackles (8 solo) against Williams on Oct. 27, and he added a sack and one fumble recovery... Sixth on the team with 47 total tackles (32 solo) and he led the team with two fumble recoveries.

2017: Played in all nine games as a first-year... Recorded his first solo tackle on Sept. 23 against Amherst... Finished the season with three tackles.

Personal: Undeclared major... James attended Saugerties High School... He is the son of Bill and Donica Ball.
