CLINTON, N.Y. – The Hamilton College Continentals won both games of a non-conference doubleheader against the University of Rochester Yellowjackets at Hamilton's Loop Road Athletic Complex on Tuesday, April 21.
Season Update
- Hamilton (14-14 overall) improved to 5-6 at home.
- Rochester (12-18) took two of three games against Clarkson University in a Liberty League series last weekend. The Yellowjackets are 5-10 in the Liberty League.
Game 1 (Hamilton wins, 9-2 in 7 inn.)
How It Happened
- Hamilton got on the board first with six runs in the bottom of the third.
- Chester Boynton '27 and Noa Oyadomari '29 began the inning with singles and Gianni DiCerbo '27 drew a walk to load the bases. Ethan Righter '27 lifted a sacrifice fly to right field and drove in Boynton, Oyadomari crossed the plate on a passed ball and Lucas Herman '26 brought in DiCerbo with a single through the left side for a 3-0 advantage. An error by the Yellowjackets allowed two more runs to score, and Boynton delivered an RBI single in his second at bat of the frame.
- Rochester got two runs back in the top of the fifth with the help of a sacrifice fly by Carlos Barajas.
- With runners on first and third in the bottom of the sixth, Righter smashed a double to left field and drove in Boynton and DiCerbo. Righter scored the next at bat on a Herman single to left field and extended the lead to 9-2.
Notes
- Righter drove in a season-high three runs for the second consecutive game.
- Colin McMahon '28 collected his first win of the season after striking out three and allowing two hits and one earned run in 5.1 innings.
- Herman went 3-for-4 at the plate with one run and two RBI. He leads the team with 35 hits on the year.
- Boynton finished with two hits, two runs, two stolen bases and one run batted in.
- Mantas Kempinas '28 tossed 1.2 scoreless innings of relief with two strikeouts. Through 12 relief appearances and 21.2 innings pitched this season, Kempinas holds a 0.83 earned run average and .92 WHIP.
- Oyadomari recorded a season-high two hits on two bunt singles.
- Rochester's Tristan Datta finished with two hits and scored one run.
Game 2 (Hamilton wins, 3-1 in 7 inn.)
How It Happened
- Daniel Sullivan '28 led off the bottom of the third with a single to left field and scored on a bases-loaded walk by Satish Raichur '28 that gave the Continentals a 1-0 lead.
- Boynton led off the fourth with a walk, went first-to-third on a sacrifice bunt by Oyadomari, and doubled the Hamilton lead following an errant throw.
- Rochester loaded the bases in the top of the fifth, but Hamilton reliever Tanner Quinn '27 got a ground ball to end the inning.
- Rochester's Grady Davis drove in Jake Goldberg with a single to left field in the top of the sixth and cut the Yellowjackets' deficit to 2-1.
- DiCerbo delivered a leadoff single in the sixth, advanced to second on a wild pitch, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Herman, and scored on a single to right field by Raichur that restored Hamilton's two-run lead.
- Rochester once again loaded the bases in the top of the seventh, but William Rickens '29 got the final out on a fly ball to left center and secured the victory.

- Sullivan recorded his first career hit and first career run and finished 2-for-3.
- Kyle Egidio '27 collected his first win of the season after completing a scoreless third inning in relief.
- Rickens got the final two outs and earned his first career save.
- Raichur registered a game-high two runs batted in.
- DiCerbo provided one hit, one walk and one run.
- Righter reached base twice with a hit and a walk.
- Rochester's Brendan Ryan recorded two strikeouts in one scoreless inning of relief.

Hamilton plays its final NESCAC West Division series this weekend at Amherst College (20-9, 5-4 NESCAC West). Game one is scheduled for Friday, April 24 at 4 p.m.
