No. 1 Tufts pulls away from men's lacrosse early in fourth quarter

Continentals recognized their 10 seniors prior to the regular season finale

CLINTON, N.Y. -- Tufts University's Jack Regnery scored six goals and added three assists in the Jumbos' 18-10 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Hamilton's Steuben Field on a warm and sunny Saturday, April 18.

Season Update

  • The Continentals (8-6, 5-5 NESCAC) finished their regular season and are in seventh place in the conference standings. Eight NESCAC teams still have one conference game left to play. The top eight teams advance to the NESCAC championship. Hamilton is 16th in the NCAA Power Index (NPI) and is receiving votes in the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division III Top 20 poll.
  • Nationally ranked No. 1 Tufts (14-0, 9-0) extended its win streak to 42 games. The Jumbos' last loss was in the 2024 NESCAC championship quarterfinals against the Continentals.

How It Happened

  • Tufts took its first lead at 7-6 late in the second quarter and stayed in front the rest of the way. Hamilton was still within a goal at 9-8 midway through the third quarter and the Continentals trailed just 11-9 going into the fourth. The Jumbos pulled away by scoring six straight goals in a span of less than four minutes early in the final quarter.
  • Hamilton grabbed a 3-0 lead on goals by Jesse Delinsky '26, Thomas Healy '26 and Carson Kraus '28 in the opening five minutes of the first quarter.
  • Healy and Maddux Little '27 added goals in the last 30 seconds of the quarter and the Continentals were up 5-3 after the first 15 minutes.
  • Frank Coyle '26 gave Hamilton a 6-5 edge -- its last lead of the day -- on an unassisted goal with 3:48 left in the second quarter. Tufts scored the last two goals in the second and the first two in the third quarter and led 9-6 with 10:41 remaining.
  • Healy drew the Continentals within 9-8 with 6:16 to go, and Kraus' unassisted tally with 2:06 left made it 11-9 as the teams moved to the fourth quarter.
  • Hamilton's hopes of knocking off the undefeated Jumbos evaporated with a 6-0 Tufts run that ended on Regnery's 41st goal this season and made it 17-9 with 10:22 remaining.
