Men's tennis cruises to 7-0 win against Oneonta in busy day at home

Continentals also dropped a NESCAC match against Bates

CLINTON, N.Y. – The Hamilton College Continentals dropped a NESCAC match against the Bates College Bobcats and cruised to a non-conference victory against the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons inside Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Saturday, April 11.
 

Season Update

  • The Continentals are 1-5 in the conference with the 6-1 setback against Bates and 7-6 overall after the 7-0 win against Oneonta. Hamilton is 44th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III computerized team rankings.
  • The 50th-ranked Bobcats (4-8, 2-5) stopped their losing skid at four matches.
  • The Red Dragons (8-10) was coming off a 4-3 win against Farmingdale State College on April 4.
 

How It Happened

  • The Continentals dropped just two games in the three doubles matches combined and won five of the six singles matches in straight sets against Oneonta.
  • Bates claimed the doubles team point by winning two out of the three matches. The Bobcats won three singles matches in straight sets and two more in three sets.
 

Notes

  • Eerik Villem Aadamsoo '28 was a winner at No. 2 singles against Bates and at No. 1 singles against the Red Dragons.
  • Alex Salib '29 (No. 2) celebrated his first collegiate singles victory.
  • Ignatio Tran '27 (No. 3) collected his second singles win this spring.
  • Dylan Trinh '29 (No. 5) and Ethan Chin '26 (No. 6) posted their first singles triumphs this spring.
  • Akshat Dhull '29 was a winner at No. 4 singles.
  • Filip Moller '29 won both of his matches at No. 2 doubles, but with different partners. Moller and Alexei Katelevsky '29 teamed up against Bates, and Moller and Anson Anderson '26 were winners against Oneonta. Katelevsky and Moller are 5-2 this spring while Anderson and Moller played together for the first time in dual matches.
  • Aadamsoo and Lleyton Mendieta '28, who are the 15th-ranked doubles team in Division III, improved to a team-best 8-5 this spring with a win at the No. 1 spot.
  • Aadamsoo, Mendieta and Anderson are tied for the team lead with eight doubles victories this spring.
  • Salib and Trinh (No. 3) paired up for the first time in the match against the Red Dragons.
  • Hamilton has won the last six meetings with Oneonta.
 
Next Match
The Continentals host Williams College (8-3, 5-1) for a NESCAC match on Saturday, April 18 at 1 p.m.
