INDIANAPOLIS – Hamilton College's
Jade Matthias '26 and
Matthew Chang '28 competed in the 100-yard backstroke at the 2026 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships inside IU Indianapolis' IU Natatorium on Friday morning, March 20.
Matthias posted a time of 56.35 seconds in the women's 100 back during the morning's preliminary heats and placed 25
th out of 44 swimmers. Her best time in the event this season was 55.61 seconds. She collected one of her three all-America awards by finishing 16
th in the 100 back at the 2024 championships.
Chang recorded a time of 50.39 seconds in the men's 100 back during prelims and placed 33
rd. He finished the first 50 yards in 24.28 seconds. Chang set the team record in the event earlier this season with a time of 48.07 seconds.
Saturday, March 21 will be a busy day for the Continentals.
Nathaniel Taft '27 starts the morning for Hamilton with the 100-yard freestyle, an event in which he has already earned two all-America awards. Chang and
Charlotte Sorensen '28 swim in the 200 back, and the Continentals end the championships with the 400 free relay.
