WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Hamilton College's
Aden Soroca '27 tallied 10 strikeouts with one hit allowed in six innings and the Continentals registered a 5-1 win over the Union College Garnet Chargers at the Chain of Lakes Park on Friday, March 20.
Season Update
- Hamilton (3-5 overall) has won its last three games.
- Union (4-5) was coming off a doubleheader sweep over SUNY Purchase on Saturday, March 14.
How It Happened
- Soroca struck out the side on 10 pitches in the top of the first, then the Continentals scored two runs on three extra-base hits in the bottom of the frame. Chester Boynton '27 led off the inning and sent the first pitch he saw into the right center field gap for a triple. Michael Tallarida followed that up with a double to right field and drove in Boynton for a 1-0 lead. Taylor Kaufman '26 brought in Tallarida and doubled the lead with a triple to right center.
- Union cut its deficit in half in the top of the second after Seamus Condon brought in Evan Lagemann with a single to right field.
- Ethan Righter '27 replaced Soroca on the mound in the top of the seventh and delivered a 1-2-3 inning with three strikeouts to maintain the 2-1 lead.
- Hamilton extended its lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the seventh with the help of a two-run single by Lucas Herman '26.
- Union put runners on first and second with no outs in the top of the ninth, then Hamilton spun a 6-4-3 double play to clear the bases.

- Soroca's 10 strikeouts mark a new career high.
- Righter tossed three scoreless innings in relief to collect the team's first save of the season.
- Herman finished with a team-high two hits and a team-high two runs batted in.
- Tallarida and Boynton both provided one hit, one walk and two runs scored.
