ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Hamilton College Continentals opened the spring portion of their schedule with a 5-2 non-conference victory against the University of Rochester Yellowjackets inside Rochester's Goergen Athletic Center on Saturday, Feb. 28.
Season Update
- Hamilton (1-0 overall) is ranked 28th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Men's Division III Top 40 coaches poll. The Continentals were competing for the first time since October 2025.
- Rochester (3-4) has lost four of its last five matches.
How It Happened
- The Continentals won all three doubles matches. The No. 1 team of Eerik Villem Aadamsoo '28 and Lleyton Mendieta '28 are ranked 15th in Division III and fourth in the Northeast Region. Anson Anderson '26 and Tarun Korwar '27 teamed up at No. 2 doubles for a 6-3 win. At No. 3 doubles, Alexei Katelevsky '29 and Antonio Chavez '28 are ranked ninth in the region.
- Hamilton triumphed in four of the six singles tilts. Korwar (No. 1) and Mendieta (No. 2) won in straight sets. Korwar is ranked 13th in Division III and third in the region.
- Aadamsoo came back from dropping the first set at No. 3 singles by winning the next two and capping the match with a tiebreaker win in the third set. Ignatio Tran '27 prevailed in the deciding third set 10-6 in a super-tiebreaker at No. 6 singles.
Notes
- Korwar improved his career singles record to 51-18.
- Aadamsoo and Mendieta's all-time record as a doubles pair became 30-14 including 11-5 this season.
- Katelevsky and Chavez's triumph moved their doubles record to 5-4. Chavez is 27-17 in doubles play.
- Anderson posted his 55th career doubles victory.
- Tran won his first singles match of the season.
- Hamilton also opened the spring part of their schedule with a 5-2 victory at the University of Rochester last year.
