NEW LONDON, Conn. – Connecticut College's Sofia Tavarez scored a game-high 21 points and the Camels shot 13-of-14 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to secure a 75-68 NESCAC win over the Hamilton College Continentals at Conn. College's Luce Field House on Friday evening, Feb. 6.
Season Update
- Hamilton (10-11, 2-5 NESCAC) played its third of a four-game road swing. The Continentals recorded a 52-37 win at Colby College last time out on Saturday, Jan. 31.
- Conn. College (13-8, 4-4 NESCAC) won its second conference game in a row after besting Wesleyan University on Saturday, Jan. 31.
How It Happened
- Hamilton forced six Conn turnovers during the first period and scored six points off turnovers. Kendall Harris '27 scored Hamilton's first five points with a layup in the paint and an old-fashioned 3-point play with 7:21 remaining. Annabelle Semeter '28 converted a contested floater in the lane with 2:07 left to put the Continentals in front, 13-12, marking the seventh lead change of the opening quarter. A layup by Abbey Schwoebel '27 with 50 seconds left made it 15-12, then Conn. College's Santia Valeria Dedos swished a 3-pointer at the other end to tie the score at 15-15 after 10 minutes of action.
- Taylor Lambo '26 tallied eight of her team-high 18 points in the second quarter for the Continentals.
- With 8:05 left in the second quarter, Harris accepted a pass in the paint from Lambo and banked in a right-handed layup to register her 1,000th career point, becoming just the 12th Continental in program history to reach the milestone. The basket gave the Continentals a 20-19 lead.
- The eighth lead change of the second quarter occurred with 4:52 left as Lambo sank a jumper from the foul line to put Hamilton in front, 26-25. Maggie Kernodle '29 finished a layup through contact with 4:13 remaining, then Lambo drove to the basket and scored to make it a 6-0 run and give the Continentals their largest lead of five at 30-25 with 3:31 left. Conn responded with a 9-0 run, with the help of five straight points from Mia Xerras, for a 34-30 lead at the 1:05 mark.
- Hamilton scored the final four points of the quarter with a jumper by Harris and a layup by Lambo to tie the game at 34-34 at halftime.
- The Camels shot 7-of-13 from the field, including 2-of-4 from 3-point range and 4-of-5 from the line in the third period to outscore Hamilton 20-15.
- Conn's Catherine Cole scored five straight via a 3-pointer and a layup and the Camels held a 41-36 advantage with 6:51 left in the third period.
- Semeter made two free throws with 4:37 left, then cashed a pullup jumper near the baseline at the 4:05 mark to cut Hamilton's deficit to 47-46. Conn scored four of the next five points, then Semeter rattled home a pullup jumper from the free throw line to once again make it a one-possession game at 51-49 with 1:19 remaining. Conn. College's Addi Hunter drained a triple with 1:01 left and the Camels carried a 54-49 lead to the fourth.
- Xerras scored 11 of her 18 points in the fourth quarter on 2-of-4 shooting from 3-point range and 5-of-6 from the line. Xerras' second 3-pointer of the fourth gave Conn its largest lead of 11 at 62-51 with 7:41 remaining. Hamilton responded with a 6-0 burst to trim its deficit to 62-57 with 1:54 remaining. The Camels went 13-of-14 from the line in the final 42 seconds to close out the win.

- Lambo finished with 18 points, six rebounds and six assists.
- Harris finished with 11 points to register her 14th consecutive game in double figures. She joins Lambo in the Continentals' 1,000-point club.
- Semeter scored 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field, 2-of-3 from 3-point range and 2-of-2 from the line in 14 minutes played off the bench.
- Erica Hills '28 added six points, three assists and two steals for the Continentals.
- The Continentals went 29-of-57 from the field, marking their third-highest field goal percentage in a game this season.
- Tavarez totaled her 21 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field and 9-of-11 from the line. She also distributed a game-high five assists.
- Xerras added 18 points, while Hayle Thompson tallied eight 10 points, six rebounds and four assists.
- Cole grabbed a game-high eight rebounds to go along with eight points and three assists.
