No. 18 women's soccer advances to NESCAC semifinals with flood of goals

Flood '27 had the assist on every goal in the Continentals' 3-0 win over Conn. College

CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Sarah Flood '27 had the assist on all three goals and the Continentals defeated the Connecticut College Camels 3-0 in a 2026 NESCAC Women's Soccer Championship quarterfinal at Hamilton's Love Field on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 31.

Season Update

  • The 18th-ranked Continentals (11-2-3 overall), who are seeded third for the championship, are unbeaten in their last six matches with four wins and two draws. They have outscored opponents 14-4 during that stretch.
  • Conn. College (8-7-1) had earned the sixth seed for the championship by defeating Bowdoin College and Wesleyan University in its final two matches of the regular season.

How It Happened

  • Hamilton dominated the action from the opening kickoff, taking a dozen shots in the first 15 minutes.
  • Haley Cramer '28 gave the Continentals the only goal they needed in the 16th minute. Cramer took one touch with her left foot after receiving a pass from Flood, turned and hammered a left-footed shot into the top-left corner of the goal from about 20 yards out.
  • Aly Fernandes '30, who had come on in the 30th minute, provided some insurance just two minutes into the second half. Flood played a through up the middle of the field and into the 18-yard box. The Camels' goalkeeper came off her line to cut off the pass but Fernandes reached the ball first. Fernandes tapped the ball once through the keeper's outstretched hands and scored from about six yards out into the empty goal.
  • Abby Douglass '27 completed the scoring in the 73rd minute. The Conn. College keeper tried to punch a corner kick by Kate Giglio '28 out of the box but the ball went right to Flood, who headed it to her left. Douglass struck the shot out of midair with her right foot, past two defenders and under the crossbar from the edge of the six-yard box.
  • Hamilton had other scoring chances that barely missed the mark. Isabel Harvey '28 rang a shot off the crossbar in the sixth minute and a corner kick by Giglio from the left side glanced off the right post in the 44th minute.

Notes

  • Flood has five assists in the last two matches and six on the year. The last three-assist match for the Continentals was by Olivia Rodrigues '21 against SUNY Morrisville on Oct. 16, 2018.
  • Cramer recorded a point for the fourth straight match. She has scored five goals in each of her three seasons at Hamilton. Cramer is second on the team with 17 points.
  • Douglass, who is a defender for the Continentals, notched her first goal this season and the second of her career.
  • Fernandes, who exploded for three goals in a 5-0 victory against Utica University on October 25, is tied for second on the team with five.
  • Corah Boller '29 posted her second clean sheet in nine starts this season. Boller made a fantastic kick save on a header shot from close range in the 27th minute and added another stop in the 41st minute.
  • Maia Kafer turned away 10 shots for the Camels.
  • Hamilton held a 30-7 shot advantage and earned eight corner kicks to Conn. College's three.
  • The Continentals are 4-0-1 in their last five home matches against the Camels.
  • Hamilton advanced to the NESCAC semifinals for the third time (2017, 2021).
  • Saturday's matchup was the first between the Continentals and Conn. College in the conference championship.
