CLINTON, N.Y. – William Smith's Cassidy Breuer and Senya Dorny totaled 10 kills each as the Herons recorded a 3-0 win over the Hamilton College Continentals in non-conference action at Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Saturday, Oct. 10.
Season Update
- Hamilton (6-6 overall) posted a 3-0 NESCAC win at Williams College on Friday, Oct. 9.
- William Smith (12-3), which received votes in the latest AVCA-Taraflex Division III Coaches Poll, has won five of its last six matches.
How It Happened (25-13, 28-26, 25-21)
- William Smith jumped out to an early lead in the opening set and maintained control throughout. The Herons recorded 13 kills and hit .267, while the Continentals finished with five kills. Kathryn Fox '27 led Hamilton with two kills in the set.
- The Continentals built a 7-3 lead in set two following a kill and ace by Ayzlinn Trefren '28. Emily Fulton sparked a 7-2 run for the Herons that gave William Smith its first lead of the set at 11-10. Hamilton then scored six straight with the help of two kills by Elodie McGeiver '27 to pull back in front, 16-11.
- Trefren and Mackenzie Sickinger '28 combined for a block to make it 21-19 in favor of the Continentals, but the Herons scored four of the next five points for a 23-22 lead.
- Trefren registered a kill with an assist from Lucy Proud '29 and Hamilton took a 25-24 lead. William Smith responded with two straight points. The score was tied for the ninth time in the set at 26-26, but Breuer and Fulton both delivered a kill and William Smith took set two, 28-26.
- Rebecca McCloskey '30 and Grace Seaman '29 recorded back-to-back kills in set three, followed by an ace from Caitlin Allen '27 to tie the score at 11-11.
- Arielle Newsome produced two kills during a 7-1 stretch for the Herons that gave them a 21-14 lead.
- Allen delivered her second ace to cap three straight points for Hamilton that trimmed the deficit to 23-19. Sickinger and McCloskey both recorded a kill to make it 24-21 before Breuer and Sage Duerr combined for a block to clinch the set and match for the Herons.

- Trefren led Hamilton with seven kills and added 10 digs and a career high-tying three blocks.
- Mia Jessen '28 recorded a team-high 18 digs.
