CLINTON, N.Y. – The Hamilton College Continentals split a pair of matches against NESCAC opponents inside Hamilton's Little Squash Center on Jan. 17 and 18.
 
The Continentals dropped a 9-0 decision against Bowdoin College on Saturday afternoon, but rebounded with a 5-4 victory over Bates College on Sunday. Hamilton was 23^rd in the most recent College Squash Association varsity team rankings, while Bowdoin was 18^th and Bates was 24^th.
 
Karis Sun '28 was a winner in four games against Bates' Aasya Patel at the first position. Sun lost the first game but edged Patel 14-12 in the pivotal second before taking the last two. The victory was the 10^th of Sun's career with the Continentals. She leads the team with two wins against NESCAC opponents.
 
Lily Spencer '26 trailed two games-to-one in her match at the fourth position, but rallied by taking the last two games against Savannah Thomson. Spencer is tied for the team lead with four wins this season.
 
Mila Karimov '26 swept her opponent in three games at the seventh position for her first victory this season. Kathryn Swords '27 also prevailed in three games at the eighth position and picked up her fourth win. Pippa Neupert '28 was a winner by default at the ninth position.
 
Hamilton honored Spencer, Karimov and Lamia Karabegovic '26 with a senior recognition ceremony before the Bowdoin match.
 
The Continentals return to the courts at Middlebury College on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 4 p.m.
