CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College dominated the top of the ladder and the Continentals edged the Wesleyan University Cardinals 5-4 inside Hamilton's Little Squash Center on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 10.
Four matches went the full five games and only two matches ended in three games in this competitive and exciting showdown. The Continentals (4-5 overall) are 27th in the College Squash Association varsity team rankings while Wesleyan is ranked 29
th.
Jacob Shulman '26 and
Atreyus Bhavsar '26 were winners in four games at the first and second positions, respectively. Bhavsar won his fourth match this season and the 20
th of his Hamilton career.
Jacob Li '29 prevailed in five games at the third position for his first victory against a NESCAC opponent. Li dominated Dominic Wilson 11-2 in the deciding game.
Cooper Jessop '27 (seventh position) and
Carter Furmanek '27 (eighth) picked up their first victories this season after studying off campus during the fall semester. Jessop was a winner in four games while Furmanek swept his opponent. Furmanek improved his career record to 13-10 with the convincing triumph.
The Continentals are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 2 p.m. when they take on Bowdoin College inside Little Squash Center. Hamilton will honor its seniors that day.
