LEWISTON, Maine – Bates College's Elsa Daulerio scored 22 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked five shots in the Bobcats' 69-60 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals inside Bates' Alumni Gym on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 11.
Season Update
- Hamilton (8-7, 0-1 NESCAC) played three of its last five games against ranked opponents.
- The Bobcats (13-1, 2-0), who are 12th in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division III Top 25 poll and 13th in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, won their seventh in a row.
How It Happened
- Bates scored the first four points and never trailed.
- The Continentals tied the score three times in the first quarter. The first tie was at 4-4 on a Taylor Lambo '26 layup, the second was at 8-8 after a Kendall Harris '27 basket in the paint, and the last was at 10-10 following a layup by Erica Hills '28.
- The Bobcats scored the next four points and led the rest of the way. Their advantage moved between two and six points the remainder of the quarter and they held a 19-16 edge after the opening 10 minutes.
- Hamilton pulled within one point three times in the second quarter but couldn't get over the hump. Bates also couldn't pull away as it never led by more than six. The Bobcats ultimately went into the break with a 36-33 edge. Daulerio led Bates with 10 points in the second.
- The Continentals shot 8-of-12 from the field in the quarter, but also committed five turnovers.
- It was still a three-point game at 38-35 after an Althea Hill '26 layup on Hamilton's first possession of the third quarter. The Bobcats responded with the first big run of the day, an 11-2 spurt over the next four minutes that made it 49-37 with 5:36 left.
- The Continentals didn't get closer than nine points the rest of the afternoon. Bates enjoyed its largest cushion of 15 points at 57-42 with 1:42 remaining and led 58-45 after three quarters. Hamilton was 4-of-15 from the floor in the third and turned the ball over five more times.
- The Bobcats gave the Continentals a chance to rally in the fourth quarter as they made just one field goal and committed seven turnovers, but Bates also went 9-for-10 at the free-throw line.
Notes
- Lambo posted her fifth double-double in the last six games with 14 points and 10 rebounds. She's 10th in the NESCAC with 12.9 points per game and third with 9.2 boards per contest.
- Hills chipped in 11 points and has averaged nearly 14 in the last three games.
- Harris was one rebound short of a double-double and added 10 points and four assists. She has scored in double figures in eight consecutive games.
- Annabelle Semeter '28 scored 10 points off the bench – all in the first half -- for her first double-digit performance since Nov. 18.
- The Bobcats posted a 19-4 advantage in points off turnovers.
- Sophie Spolter scored 14 points, including six free throws in the fourth quarter. Lily Lambo dropped in 13 points off the bench and Sarah Hughes added a dozen.
- Bates made more free throws (16) than Hamilton attempted (12).
