Field hockey breaks into Division III coaches poll at No. 24

Continentals take on two ranked opponents on the road this week

The Hamilton College Continentals were ranked 24th in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Top 25 poll that was released on Tuesday, Sept. 9.

Hamilton (1-1 overall) was not ranked in the preseason poll, but the Continentals won 5-1 at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Sept. 2 and took nationally ranked No. 1 Middlebury College to a shootout before falling 2-1 on Sept. 6.

Hamilton plays two ranked opponents on the road this week. The Continentals are at No. 21 University of Rochester (5-0) for a non-conference contest on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 5 p.m. and at No. 10 Wesleyan University (2-0) for a New England Small College Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday, Sept. 13 at noon.

Brighton McMahon '29 currently leads the offense with three points on a goal and an assist, and Sammy Higgins '26 has two assists. Abby Griffin '26 has stopped all four shots on goal she has faced in 60 minutes in the cage, and Kelly Janssen '28 has a 1.50 goals against average with three stops in 80 minutes.
