Softball season ends with NESCAC doubleheader loss against Williams

Tansky ’25 tallied five hits for the Continentals

HARTFORD, Conn. – Williams College's Sadie Leonard recorded 13 strikeouts in Game 1 and picked up the save in Game 2 as the Ephs posted a NESCAC doubleheader sweep against the Hamilton College Continentals at the Trinity College Softball Field on Saturday, May 3. 
 

Season Update

  • Hamilton concluded its season with a 15-17 overall record, including 6-12 in the conference. 
  • Williams (26-11, 13-5) finished second in the conference standings and will face Bowdoin College in a 2025 NESCAC Softball Championship quarterfinal at Tufts University on Friday, May 9. 

Game 1 (Williams wins, 7-1)

 

How It Happened

  • The Ephs grabbed a two-run lead in the bottom of the second inning, highlighted by Sidney Miller's two-out, two-run double to right field.
  • Williams extended its lead to 7–0 with a five-run outburst in the fifth inning.
  • Hamilton broke through in the top of the seventh for its lone run. Yael Everett '28 bunted for a single with one out, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and came home on a two-out double to the gap in left-center field by Alison Zorn '26.

Notes

  • Emma Tansky '25 accounted for half of Hamilton's hits, going 2-for-3 and swiping three bases.
  • Zorn smacked her fifth double of the season.
  • Miller and Katie Blanch delivered two hits and drove in a pair of runs apiece.
  • Alysa DeQuiroz turned in a two-hit performance, while Dani Jackman brought home two runs with a base hit.
  • Leonard (16-2) allowed one run on four hits, issued one walk and struck out 13 in seven innings.

Game 2 (Williams wins, 6-4)

 

How It Happened

  • The Continentals took the early lead with a run in the top of the first. Tansky led off with an infield single, stole second, advanced to third on a groundout, and was driven in by Gaby Guerra '27.
  • Hamilton doubled its advantage with another run in the third. Tansky once again started the inning with an infield single, swiped second, moved to third on a wild pitch, and scored on Guerra's single up the middle.
  • Williams tied the score with two runs on three hits in the fourth.
  • The Continentals regained the lead in the fifth when Guerra knocked in Tansky for the third consecutive at-bat.
  • The Ephs responded with a three-run rally in the bottom of the fifth for a 5-3 lead.
  • Everett led off with a triple in the sixth and later scored on a ground ball to second base that trimmed the Ephs' lead to 5-4.
  • Williams extended its lead back to two runs in the bottom of the sixth and Leonard struck out the side in the seventh. 

Notes

  • Tansky paced the Continentals' offense with a three-hit performance, scored three times and swiped a pair of bases.
  • Guerra drove in a team-high three runs on two hits for her seventh multi-hit game of the season.
  • Zorn tallied her 13th RBI with her 25th hit.
  • Everett extended her hitting streak to four games with her first career triple.
  • Davis paced the Ephs with a pair of hits and crossed the plate twice.
  • Sydney Fleming reached base four times on a single and three walks.
  • Miller and Vicky Trujillo Balderas added a double apiece to the Ephs' extra-base tally.
  • Blanch (8-8) tossed six innings and allowed three earned runs on seven hits.
  • Leonard recorded her first save of the season with a scoreless seventh inning.
