No. 38 men's tennis posts NESCAC win in convincing fashion over Bates

Continentals won eight of nine singles and doubles matches against the Bobcats

CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College captured all six singles matches in straight sets and the Continentals posted a 7-0 NESCAC win against the Bates College Bobcats inside Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Sunday, April 6.
 

Season Update

  • The 38th-ranked Continentals (11-4, 2-4 NESCAC) have alternated wins and losses for the last five matches.
  • Bates (3-11, 1-5) dropped its seventh straight match.
 

How It Happened

  • Hamilton cruised to wins at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles and picked up the team doubles point.
  • The Continentals didn't lose a set in singles play, but the Bobcats didn't go down without a fight, as three sets went to a tiebreaker.
 

Notes

  • Connor Griff '25, who was playing in his 100th career singles match, improved to 19-6 this season and 74-26 in his Hamilton career with a victory at the No. 1 spot.
  • Lleyton Mendieta '28 was one of four Continentals who won at singles and doubles. Mendieta – the 19th-ranked singles player in the Northeast Region – is 11-4 in dual matches after his victory at No. 2 singles.
  • Tarun Korwar '27 continued his dominance in singles play as he triumphed at No. 3. Korwar is 16-4 this season and 34-11 in two seasons at Hamilton.
  • Anson Anderson '26 collected his 37th career singles win when he prevailed at the No. 4 spot.
  • Eerik Villem Aadamsoo '28 registered his 14th singles victory with a win at No. 5.
  • Antonio Chavez '28 completed the clean sweep with his win at No. 6 singles.
  • Anderson and Korwar were winners at No. 2 doubles. They have 20 career wins as a doubles team, and Anderson improved to 45-32 in doubles play with the Continentals.
  • Aadamsoo and Mendieta triumphed at No. 3 doubles for their 11th consecutive win. They are 17-7 this season including 12-2 in dual matches.
  • Hamilton's win is believed to be its first against Bates in the all-time series.
 

Next Match

Hamilton hosts Bowdoin College for a NESCAC match and SUNY Oneonta for a non-conference clash on Saturday, April 12. The Bowdoin match starts at 11 a.m. and the Oneonta match begins at approximately 4 p.m.
