CLINTON, N.Y. – The Hamilton College Continentals pushed hard for victory against Tufts University, but the Jumbos emerged with a 5-2 NESCAC win inside Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Saturday, April 5.
Season Update
- The Continentals (5-5, 1-3 NESCAC) honor their five seniors before their match with Bates College on Sunday.
- Nationally ranked No. 7 Tufts (11-2, 3-1) has alternated losses and wins for the past four matches.
How It Happened
- The Hamilton doubles pairings put up a good fight as Hannah Apsey '25 and Stephanie Pratt '25 and Priyanka Challapalli '27 and Hannah Walpole '26 lost 7-5 decisions at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively.
- Apsey outlasted Ellie Gershaw, who is ranked 15th in the Northeast Region, by scores of 6-7 (7-9), 6-2 and 6-2 in No. 1 singles.
- Challapalli breezed to a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Athena Li in No. 3 singles.
- Shannon Cicero '25 gave her No. 5 singles opponent a tough match but dropped both sets in tiebreakers.
Notes
- Challapalli leads the team with six singles wins in dual matches this spring.
- Apsey earned her 35th career singles victory.
