Women's tennis wins last NESCAC match of regular season at Conn. College

Apsey '25, Pratt '25 and Qian '27 were winners in singles and doubles for the Continentals

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Hamilton College captured four singles matches and the Continentals posted a 5-2 NESCAC victory against the Connecticut College Camels at Conn. College's Luce Field House on Saturday, April 26.
 

Season Update

  • Nationally ranked No. 54 Hamilton (7-9, 3-7 NESCAC) ended its losing skid at four matches.
  • The 56th-ranked Camels (6-11, 1-8) lost for the fifth time in their last six matches.
 

How it Happened

  • The Continentals' No. 1 doubles pairing of Stephanie Pratt '25 and Hannah Apsey '25 swiftly scored a 6-2 win over MaryElla Prendergast and Caitlin Cass.
  • Hamilton's No. 3 doubles team of Grace Qian '27 and Priyanka Challapalli '27 fought hard for a 7-5 victory over Sana Bhat and Marylove Reynolds.
  • Shannon Cicero '25 cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory in No. 4 singles against Prendergast.
  • Qian also recorded a quick win in No. 5 singles.
  • Apsey prevailed in a tiebreaker in the first set of No. 1 singles against Cass and sealed the victory by not dropping a game in the second.
  • Pratt breezed to a 6-2 decision in the first set in No. 2 singles and her opponent retired from the match before they started the second.
 

Notes

  • Pratt and Apsey continued to show their strength as a doubles pairing as they improved to 14-9 this season and 29-18 in their careers.
  • Apsey is 53-32 all-time in doubles play while Pratt won her 42nd match.
  • Challapalli and Qian picked up their first victory as a doubles pairing.
  • Apsey is 7-3 against NESCAC opponents in singles play. She became the 10th player in Hamilton women's tennis history to get to 40 singles wins.
  • Pratt recorded her 32nd career singles triumph and Cicero registered her 30th.
  • Qian moved to 7-4 overall and 4-1 in dual matches this season.
  • The Continentals defeated Conn. College for the fifth straight match.
