No. 23 men's tennis edges No. 7 Amherst in NESCAC classic, 4-3

Anderson '26 posted a huge singles win in three sets for the Continentals

CLINTON, N.Y. – The Hamilton College Continentals defeated a top 10 NESCAC opponent for the second straight weekend with a 4-3 decision against the Amherst College Mammoths inside Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Saturday afternoon, April 19.

Season Update

  • The 23rd-ranked Continentals (15-4, 5-4 NESCAC) ran their win streak to five matches with what was believed to be their first victory against Amherst.
  • The seventh-ranked Mammoths (13-5, 7-2) had won their previous three matches.

How it Happened

  • Hamilton got off to a great start by taking the team doubles point. The No. 2 pairing of Anson Anderson '26 and Tarun Korwar '27 defeated Rex Harrison and Spencer Leung, and the No. 3 pairing of Eerik Villem Aadamsoo '28 and Lleyton Mendieta '28 found victory against Sujit Chepuri and Albert Hu.
  • The Continentals and Amherst split the six singles matches.
  • Anderson's win at No. 4 singles might have been the difference in the match as he outlasted Harrison in a third set that went to a tiebreaker where Anderson edged Harrison 7-5.
  • Korwar and Aadamsoo had an easier time of it in their triumphs at Nos. 2 and 5 singles. Korwar's win came against the 16th-ranked player in the Northeast Region.
