WATERVILLE, Maine – Colby College claimed the team doubles point and that turned out to be the difference in the Mules' 4-3 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals inside Colby's Indoor Competition Center on Sunday, April 13.
Season Update
- Nationally ranked No. 38 Hamilton (6-7, 2-5 NESCAC) has dropped three of its last four matches.
- The 34th-ranked Mules (6-7, 3-4) ended their losing skid at six matches.
How it Happened
- Colby won all three doubles matches and earned the all-important team doubles point.
- The teams split the six singles matches. Grace Qian '27 won 6-4, 6-1 over Amelie Gal at No. 6 in Qian's first action since Sept. 28.
- Hannah Apsey '25 conquered Jade Finestone, 6-3, 7-5 in the top singles match.
- Shannon Cicero '25 rallied after dropping the first set at No. 5. Cicero won the second and then had to outlast Anna Rende in a third set tiebreaker.
Notes
- Apsey leads the team with nine singles wins this season and is 5-2 against NESCAC competition. Her career total record improved to 38-37.
- Cicero secured her 29th career singles win
- Qian is 5-3 this season and picked up the 17th win of her career.
