ROME, N.Y. – Hamilton College finished first in three of the four races in a head-to-head regatta with Rochester Institute of Technology on the Erie Canal on Saturday morning, April 12.
This was the lone home event of the spring season for Hamilton, which was ranked 14
th in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Division III Top 15 poll. RIT was receiving votes in the April 8 poll.
The Continentals took the top spot in the varsity eight with a time of 7:26.2, which was 13.7 seconds faster than RIT. Hamilton enjoyed an even larger margin of victory in the second varsity eight with its time of 7:43.6 more than 27 seconds faster than RIT.
The third varsity eight/novice eight went to the Continentals with their winning time of 7:46.9 as RIT finished in 8:03.7. RIT salvaged a win in the fourth varsity eight with a time of 7:58.4. Hamilton posted a time of 8:07.5 in the closest race of the day.
