No. 36 men's tennis drops tough NESCAC match at No. 24 Wesleyan, 5-2

Continentals won all three doubles matches against the Cardinals

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Wesleyan University won five of the six singles matches and the Cardinals defeated the Hamilton College Continentals 5-2 in a NESCAC match at Wesleyan's John Wood Memorial Courts on Saturday, March 29.
 

Season Update

  • Nationally ranked No. 36 Hamilton (9-3, 0-3 NESCAC) had its win streak come to an end at seven matches.
  • The 24th-ranked Cardinals (6-2, 2-1) won their 3rd straight match – all by 5-2 decisions.
 

How It Happened

  • The Continentals got off to a great start by winning all three doubles matches and earning the doubles team point.
  • Wesleyan clinched the match in singles play, but the Cardinals' wins at Nos. 1 and 2 singles went to three sets.
 

Notes

  • Tarun Korwar '27, who was playing for the first time since March 20, was a winner at both singles and doubles. Korwar cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles and improved his record to 13-4 this season and 31-11 for his career.
  • Korwar and Anson Anderson '26 triumphed at No. 2 doubles. They are 6-3 in dual matches. Anderson won his 44th career doubles match.
  • Antonio Chavez '28 and Connor Griff '25 are 15-5 this season after their win at No. 1 doubles. Chavez is 11-1 in dual matches this spring, and Griff won his 49th career doubles match.
  • Eerik Villem Aadamsoo '28 and Lleyton Mendieta '28 were victorious at No. 3 doubles and are 9-2 in dual matches. Aadamsoo has a 15-7 doubles record and Mendieta is 14-7.
 

Next Match

The Continentals play another NESCAC match at Trinity College inside Memorial Field House on Sunday, March 30 at 2 p.m.
