Men's tennis stays hot in Florida with 6-1 win against Oberlin

Four Continentals won their singles and doubles matches

ORLANDO, Fla. – Hamilton College recorded four of its five singles wins in straight sets and the Continentals defeated Oberlin College 6-1 in non-conference action at USTA National Campus on Sunday, March 23.
 

Season Update

  • Nationally ranked No. 34 Hamilton (7-2 overall) extended its win streak to five matches.
  • Oberlin (3-7), which is a member of the North Coast Athletic Conference, was playing its first match in Florida.
 

How It Happened

  • The Continentals picked up the team doubles point by sweeping the three doubles matches.
  • Oberlin collected its team point by winning at No. 5 singles, but only after the match was extended to a third set super-tiebreaker.
 

Notes

  • Four Hamilton players were victorious in singles and doubles.
  • Lleyton Mendieta '28 is 7-2 in dual matches after his win at No. 1 singles.
  • Mendieta and Eerik Villem Aadamsoo '28 improved to 6-2 in dual matches with their victory at No. 2 doubles.
  • Connor Griff '25 is 16-4 this season and 71-24 for his career following his triumph at No. 2 singles.
  • Griff and Antonio Chavez '28 are 13-5 as a team with their win at No. 1 doubles.
  • Chavez has an 18-6 doubles record, including 8-1 in dual matches.
  • Anson Anderson '26 and Charlie Sternberg '27 enjoyed a successful debut as a doubles team before winning their singles matches. Anderson has a 43-28 career doubles record while Sternberg is 10-5 this season.
  • Anderson, who was a winner at No. 3 singles, is 10-6 this season.
  • Sternberg moved to 9-5 with his victory at No. 4 singles.
  • Nicolas Gritz '25 triumphed at No. 6 singles. Gritz is 3-0 in dual matches and 8-4 this season.
