DAVENPORT, Fla. – Hamilton College's
Ethan Righter '27 cracked a go-ahead, two-run homer in the sixth inning and pitched a scoreless ninth for the save in the Continentals' 7-6 non-conference win against the Knox College Prairie Fire at Northeast Regional Park on Friday, March 21.
Season Update
- Hamilton (6-2 overall) assembled its second three-game win streak this season.
- Knox (6-4) has alternated losses and wins for the last five games.
How It Happened
- The Continentals trailed 5-4 after five innings but took the lead for good with a three-run sixth. Chester Boynton '27 drew a one-out walk, stole second base and kept going to third on a throwing error. Righter followed with his home run for a 6-5 Hamilton edge. Greg Kopp '25 and Michael Tallarida '26 laced back-to-back doubles and gave the Continentals an insurance run.
- The Prairie Fire scored a run in the bottom of the eighth and coaxed a leadoff walk in the ninth. A stolen base and sacrifice bunt put the tying run 90 feet away with one out. Righter rose to the occasion again by striking out the next two batters and clinching the win for Hamilton.
- The Continentals grabbed a 2-0 advantage in their first at-bat. Boynton led off the game with a triple and scored on a single by Righter. Gianni DiCerbo '27 and Lucas Herman '26 hit consecutive two-out singles and drove in Righter.
- Knox responded with three runs in the second inning and two in the fourth.
- Hamilton pulled within a run in the fifth as the first three batters posted hits. Righter singled and scored on a triple by Kopp. A single by Tallarida brought home Kopp.
