Men's basketball 2025 NESCAC Championship weekend preview

Continentals play at undefeated Wesleyan in a semifinal on Saturday, March 1

The Hamilton College Continentals travel to Middletown, Conn., for a 2025 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men's Basketball Championship semifinal against Wesleyan University at Wesleyan's Silloway Gymnasium on Saturday, March 1 at 1:30 p.m.

The other semifinal at Wesleyan pits No. 3 seed Tufts University (21-4 overall) against No. 2 seed Trinity College (22-3) at 4:30. The semifinal winners play for the NESCAC title and an NCAA championship automatic bid at Silloway Gymnasium on Sunday, March 2 at noon.

Tickets for each semifinal are $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and $3 for students/children 3 and older. Tickets for children under 2 are free. A separate ticket is needed for each semifinal as the gym will be cleared between the games. Click HERE for more, including information regarding tickets for Sunday's final.

Hamilton (20-5) finished in fourth place in the NESCAC standings with a 7-3 record and is the fourth seed for the championship. The Continentals have won eight of their last nine including a 70-61 victory against Connecticut College in the quarterfinals on Feb. 22. Hamilton, which won the NESCAC title in 2023, was 15th in the Division III NCAA Power Index (NPI) rankings as of Feb. 26. The Continentals are led by Hank Morgan '25, who leads the conference in scoring with 22.0 points per game. Morgan is ninth on the team's all-time list with 1,546 career points. Teja Singh '25 (1,154 points) also reached the career 1,000-point milestone this season, and poured in 24 in the quarterfinal win. Morgan and Singh are tied for fifth in career three-point field goals made on Hamilton's all-time list with 169.

The Cardinals (25-0) finished in first place in the NESCAC standings with a 10-0 record and are the No. 1 seed for the championship. Wesleyan held off Amherst College 65-58 in the quarterfinals on Feb. 22. The Cardinals had a big second half against the Continentals and pulled away for a 73-57 win in Clinton back on Jan. 17. Wesleyan is the first team to finish with an undefeated conference record since the 2012-13 season. The Cardinals are No. 1 in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll and the NPI rankings. Wesleyan leads the NESCAC in rebounding margin and assist-to-turnover ratio. Nicky Johnson leads the conference with 4.4 assists per game, and Shane Regan is second to Morgan with 18.2 points per game. The Cardinals won NESCAC titles in 2015 and 2022.
