Men’s basketball breezes by Williams, will host NESCAC quarterfinal

11 Continentals scored in 26-point win

CLINTON, N.Y. -- Hamilton College's Hank Morgan '25 led all players with 18 points and the Continentals cruised to a 76-50 NESCAC win over the Williams College Ephs on Hamilton's Coach Tom Murphy Court inside Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Friday evening, Feb. 14. 
 

Season Update

  • With one game left in the regular season, Hamilton (18-5, 6-3 NESCAC) is in fourth place in the conference standings. The Continentals will host a NESCAC Men's Basketball Championship quarterfinal on Saturday, Feb. 22. 
  • Williams (15-8, 4-5) snapped its win streak at four games.
     

How It Happened

  • Williams briefly gained its only lead of the night at 5-4 with 16:44 remaining. Morgan responded with a three-pointer and Jalen Reese '27 followed with a jumper for a 9-5 Hamilton advantage with 15:23 left. 
  • Tied at 9-9, Morgan buried another three-pointer and made two free throws that pushed the Continentals lead to 14-9 with 11:38 to go. 
  • The Continentals went on a 6-0 run fueled by two jumpers by Matthew Rideout '27 and a layup by Owen Kane '25 for a 20-11 lead with 7:37 left. 
  • Garret Keyhani '26 knocked down a three-ball and gave the Continentals their first double-digit lead at 28-18 with 4:12 to play. 
  • Hamilton capped off the first half with four consecutive points and secured a 34-21 lead at the break.
  • The Continentals came out strong in the second half as they powered through an 8-2 spurt and pushed their lead to 42-23 with 16:38 left. 
  • Hamilton stretched its lead to 57-30 with 9:03 to go after an 11-0 run. Rideout tallied seven of those points, while both Morgan and Teja Singh '25 knocked down a jumper.
  • The Continentals led by more than 25 points the rest of the way. 
  • Cooper Xu '25 put the home crowd on their feet with a three-pointer from the left wing for a comfortable 76-46 lead with 1:54 left.   

Notes

  • Morgan continues to lead the NESCAC with 22 points per game. He added seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. 
  • Rideout was 6-of-9 from the floor and notched 15 points off the bench. 
  • Keyhani tallied 10 points and seven rebounds. 
  • Singh and Kane registered seven points apiece. 
  • Reese had six points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots. 
  • Nate Raub '27 collected seven rebounds.    
  • Alex Lee paced Williams with 14 points. 
  • Justin Belcher contributed nine points and three steals. 
  • Aidan Yates and Hudson Hansen scored eight points apiece. 
  • The Continentals shot 46.8 percent (29-62) from the floor, including 7-of-17 from three-point range, and went 11-for-15 at the line.
  • Williams shot just 6-of-23 from the field in the first half. The Ephs struggled from long range as they were 5-of-15 for the game, and went 11-for-16 at the charity stripe. 
  • The Continentals owned a dominating 48-21 edge on the glass and tallied 22 second-chance points to Williams' five. 
  • Hamilton received 33 points from its bench.
  • The Ephs had won the previous four meetings between the teams. 

Next Game

Hamilton hosts Middlebury College (12-11, 3-6) in its final regular season contest at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15. The Continentals will honor Kane, Morgan, Graham Robinson '25, Singh and Xu in a Senior Day ceremony at halftime.
