CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Lilly Truchon '26 scored two goals in the third period and the Continentals pulled away late for a 4-1 NESCAC win against the Williams College Ephs inside Hamilton's Russell Sage Rink on Friday night, Jan. 31.
Season Update
- The Continentals (9-8-2, 4-5-2 NESCAC) have five wins and a tie in their last six games. Hamilton has outscored its opponents 17-5 during the stretch.
- Williams (8-7-1, 2-6-1) has one win in its last five contests.
How It Happened
- After a first period without goals or penalties, the Continentals grabbed a 1-0 lead with 7:58 left in the second period. Cuora Sullivan '26 picked up a loose puck in the right faceoff circle in Hamilton's offensive zone and skated around the back of the net. Sullivan stopped below the left faceoff circle and lifted a wrist shot that was tipped in midair by Ava Romano '27 into the top-right corner.
- The Continentals didn't add to their lead on a power play late in the second and took their one-goal lead into the third period.
- Truchon made it 2-0 seven minutes into the third. Sullivan put a shot on goal from a tough angle below the right faceoff circle. Lydia Bullock '26 jumped on the rebound and her shot from near the right post bounced off the goaltender as well. Truchon finally pushed the loose puck over the goal line from the edge of the top of the crease.
- The Ephs pulled their goaltender for a sixth skater with a little more than five minutes remaining, but Truchon deposited the puck into the empty net with 4:55 to go.
- Williams won the ensuing faceoff and called its goaltender to the bench again. Twenty seconds later, Bri Rockwood '28 scored another empty-net goal and it was 4-0 with 4:23 left.
- The Ephs' goaltender returned to the bench with 3:51 remaining and eventually Williams avoided the shutout. A goal by Lucie Bond with 2:25 to go rounded out the scoring as Quinn Dawson and Zoe Rosenberg had the assists. The Ephs didn't do any further damage even though they played with six skaters the rest of the way.
