Late goal by Burke '26 lifts men's soccer to 1-0 win, end season on high note

Montesano Scheibe '27 made six saves for Continentals' seventh shutout

CLINTON, N.Y. - Hamilton College's Aedan Burke '26 scored in the 83rd minute and capped off an amazing Senior Day for the Continentals as they posted a 1-0 NESCAC victory against the Trinity College Bantams at Hamilton's Love Field on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 25.
 

Season Update

  • Hamilton (7-5-3, 2-5-3 NESCAC) finished the season with an impressive record of 5-2-1 at home.
  • Trinity (3-8-3, 0-6-3) is winless in its last eight matches.
 

How it Happened

  • With less than eight minutes left in the match, Oliver Mylon '29 crossed the ball off a short corner and found Burke who headed the ball past the goalkeeper.
  • Both teams finished with 11 shots and had plenty of scoring opportunities.
  • Griffin Weidner '26 thought he had opened the scoring for the Continentals in the 39th minute as he scored on a header from a deflection, but the goal was waved off for offsides.
  • Peter Montesano Scheibe '27 made a great diving save on a Bantams' counter-attack in the 53rd minute.
  • Silas Lawrence thought he had scored the equalizer for Trinity in the 89th minute, but he was ruled to be offsides, and that sealed the victory for the Continentals.
 

Notes

  • Montesano Scheibe made six saves and kept his fourth clean sheet for Hamilton, which finished with seven as a team this season. He ended up with an .811 save percentage and 0.71 goals against average in 886-plus minutes in 2025.
  • The Continentals are 9-0-2 in their last 11 matches with Trinity.
  • Hamilton finished the regular season with a winning record for the fifth straight season.
  • Burke scored his first goal this season and the fifth of his career with the Continentals.
  • Mylon grabbed his team-leading third assist and William Fauth '29 registered his second.
  • Hamilton honored Burke, Weidner, Bill Becker '26, Felix Halloran '26, Bennett Hauck '26, Vincent Manni '26, Jameson Mannix '26 and Cole Wassiliew '26 during a ceremony before the match.
