No. 10 field hockey shuts out Conn. College in NESCAC win, 1-0

Felker '26 scored her team-leading seventh goal for the Continentals

CLINTON, N.Y. - Hamilton College's Becky Felker '26 scored 10 minutes into the first quarter, and the Continentals shut down the Connecticut College Camels' offense in a 1-0 NESCAC win at Hamilton's Goodfriend Field on Saturday, Oct. 11.

Season Update

  • The 10th-ranked Continentals (9-3, 4-3 NESCAC) are 4-1 at home.
  • The Camels (4-6, 1-6) have lost four of their last five games – all by a goal.

How It Happened

  • Felker scored the lone goal on a penalty corner with 4:54 left in the first quarter. Sammy Higgins '26 inserted the ball to Claire Tratnyek '26 at the top of the circle and Tratnyek tapped it over to Isabelle Nahon '27. Nahon settled the ball and slid it across the circle to Brighton McMahon '29. McMahon boxed out a Conn. College defender before finding an open Felker on the left side. Felker ripped it and beat the goalie at the right post.
  • Hamilton's Alexis Glasofer '29 nearly made it a two-goal game late in the second quarter when her shot hit the post. McMahon also hit a post with less than two minutes to go in the third quarter.

Notes

  • Felker is tied for fifth in the NESCAC with seven goals and leads the team with 15 points.
  • McMahon recorded her second assist and has eight points. She scored the game-winning goal at Bates College on Oct. 5.
  • Abby Griffin '26 and Kelly Janssen '28 combined on the shutout as Janssen made one save and Griffin didn't have any. Griffin (1.33 gaa, .704 save pct.) has started all 12 games and Janssen (1.17 gaa, .724 save pct.) has played in all 12.
  • Hamilton outshot Conn. College 17-5, and was awarded nine corners to the Camels' two.
  • The Continentals have won six of the last seven meetings with Conn. College.
  • Hamilton posted its third shutout.
