HOBOKEN, N.J. – Hamilton College's
Teja Singh '25 scored his 1,000
th career point and
Hank Morgan '25 poured in a game-high 24 as the Continentals stormed from behind to a 72-61 win against Stevens Institute of Technology in the Stevens Holiday Tournament inside Canavan Arena on Friday, Jan. 3.
Season Update
- Hamilton (10-1 overall) extended its win streak to nine games – the longest since it started the 2018-19 season 13-0.
- Stevens (7-3) is a member of Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom.
How It Happened
- The Ducks formed a 9-1 run at the start of the second half for its largest lead of eight points at 38-30 with 17:39 left.
- A jumper by Owen Kane '25 and a 3-pointer by Matthew Rideout '27 kept the Continentals close.
- Trailing 45-39, the Continentals were able to cut down their deficit to just one point at 45-44 with 14:10 remaining.
- Hamilton took a 52-50 deficit and turned it into a 58-52 advantage with 7:23 left after an 8-0 run sparked by a Nate Raub '27 layup. Jalen Reese '27 and Connor Jenkins '27 also scored during the rally.
- Stevens rattled off the next four points, but the Continentals refused to give up the lead again as Singh hit a big-time 3-pointer for a 61-56 advantage with just over five minutes remaining.
- Singh extended Hamilton's lead to nine points at 65-56 with another shot from long distance with 3:12 left.
- The Ducks didn't get closer than seven points the rest of the way.
- Morgan closed out the final minute with a pair of shots at the charity stripe for the final margin.
- Singh and Morgan combined for an 8-0 run for an early 10-4 lead with 17:17 left in the first half.
- After a handful of ties and lead changes within the opening five minutes, Graham Robinson '25 hit a 3-ball and Morgan converted a layup for a 20-15 lead with 13:02 to go.
- A shot from long distance by Rideout gave the Continentals a 26-19 advantage with 9:01 left.
- Neither team scored for the next 2:30 until Stevens eventually ended the drought on a layup with 6:29 to go.
- Anthony Loscalzo closed Stevens' margin to one point at 27-26 on a 3-pointer with 2:28 remaining.
- Morgan buried a jumper in the paint, but the Ducks closed out the half with three free throws and evened the score at 29-29.
Notes
- The matchup is believed to be the first time two turban-wearing Sikh's (Harmehar Chhabra, Teja Singh) competed against each other.
- Morgan added eight rebounds and three assists. He leads the NESCAC with 19.4 points per game.
- Singh finished with 19 points and has 1,004 for his career. He is the 37thplayer in team history to reach the 1,000-point milestone.
- Kane grabbed a career-best 10 rebounds and passed out three assists.
- Rideout contributed eight points off the bench.
- Reese chipped in five boards, four steals and two blocked shots off the bench as well.
- Tommy Scholl paced Stevens with 18 points and five assists.
- Jack Spellman finished with a team-best 17 rebounds and added eight points and three blocked shots.
- Kyle Maddison registered 13 points and three steals.
- The Continentals shot 61.9 percent (13-21) in the second half, including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. Hamilton went 13-for-25 (52 percent) at the charity stripe.
- Hamilton owned a 42-34 edge on the glass and received 19 points from its bench to Stevens' seven.
