LEWISTON, Maine -- Hamilton College lost its men's and women's squash matches against Bates College at Bates Squash Center on Wednesday night, Jan. 15.

The Hamilton men, who are 25th in the College Squash Association varsity team rankings, dropped a 7-2 decision against No. 23 Bates. On the women's side, the 20th-ranked Bobcats posted a 9-0 win against the 28th-ranked Continentals.

Atreyus Bhavsar '26 and Carter Furmanek '27 earned the team points for the Hamilton men as both picked up their first victories over NESCAC opponents. Bhavsar won the first two games at the second position, fought off a furious rally by the Bates player, and clinched the match with a 12-10 triumph in the decisive fifth game. Furmanek swept his opponent in three games at the ninth position and improved his career record to 7-5.

The Continentals play at Colby College on Thursday, Jan. 16 as both matches start at 6 p.m.
