CLINTON, N.Y. – Utica University's Jordyn Conte fanned seven batters in six innings and the Pioneers posted a 6-3 non-conference win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Hamilton's Loop Road Athletic Complex on Sunday, April 28.
Season Update
- Hamilton (16-17 overall) dropped its third straight contest.
- Utica, which is in 8-4 in the Empire 8 Conference, improved to 20-11 overall.
Game 1
How It Happened
- The Pioneers jumped ahead early with two runs in their first at-bat on one walk, one hit and a sacrifice fly.
- Hamilton took one run back in the bottom half on three hits. Natalie Beebe '24 smacked a two-out double to the right center gap and scored on a single by Charlie Quinn '25.
- Utica added two more runs in the second frame and another two in the fourth for a 6-1 cushion.
- The Continentals countered with two runs in the sixth on four hits. Emma Tansky '25 chopped a two-out infield single to shortstop and advanced to second on another infield single to short by Sofia Santana '26. Alison Zorn '26 nailed a one-run single through the right side and Ella Heftved '25 drove it back through the right side to score Santana.

- The Continentals outhit the Pioneers 12-8.
- Merklin broke the program record with her seventh triple of the season.
- Quinn finished with two hits and one RBI.
- Santana went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored once.

- Emily Joss tallied two hits, drove in one run, walked twice and scored twice for the Pioneers.
- Frankie Luster batted in a team-best two runs on one hit.
- Rodriguez recorded two hits and drove in one run.
- Rachel Little registered two hits and scored twice.
- Conte (8-3) gave up three runs on 12 hits and struck out seven in six innings pitched.
- Maggie Habernig earned her second save of the season in one scoreless inning of relief.
