CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College tallied 19 hits in Game 1 and the Continentals split a NESCAC West Division twinbill with the Wesleyan University Cardinals at Hamilton's Loop Road Athletic Complex on Saturday, April 13.
Season Update
- Hamilton (9-12, 3-6 NESCAC West) coasted to a 24-3 win in the seven-inning opener.
- Wesleyan (17-6, 5-4) bounced back with a 10-2 victory in a nightcap that was shortened to eight innings due to darkness. The Cardinals received votes in this week's D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25 poll.
Game 1
How It Happened
- Wesleyan struck in its first at-bat with one run.
- The Continentals quickly countered with a run of their own powered by a lead-off double by Taylor Kaufman '26, two walks and a wild pitch.
- Hamilton broke open the scoring with six runs in the bottom of the second on four hits and a pair of wild pitches. Charlie O'Brien '24 led off with a double to the left center gap and scored on a single up the middle by Alfonso Rada '27. Kaufman ripped a two-run single to right field, Jackson Sattinger '24 drove in a run on a single through the right side and Jack Griffin '24 hit a one-run sacrifice fly to left field.
- Greg Kopp '25 drove in Hamilton's lone run in the third on a single to left field.
- Hamilton widened the gap with seven more runs in the fourth on six hits. With runners on the corners, Chester Boynton '27 roped a two-out, two-run double to left center. Kaufman followed with a one-run double down the left field line, and Kopp plated his second run of the contest on a single up the middle. Shane Dux '24 loaded the bases on a single through the left side and Griffin emptied them on a three-run triple to the left field wall.
- The Cardinals took one run back in the fifth and another in the six for a 15-3 deficit.
- The Continentals exploded for nine runs on five hits and two errors. With bases loaded, Carter Chambers '25 drew a walk and O'Brien cranked a grand slam over right field for a 20-3 cushion. Hamilton took advantage of two walks, two errors and a one-run hit by Quinn Perkins '25 for the final margin.

- Kenny Rix '25 rang up one batter in .2 innings and David Galvao '24 tallied two strikeouts in one inning of scoreless relief.
- Evan Diaz led the Cardinals with one hit and one RBI.
- Cole Torino, Connor Sullivan and Luke LaSaracina added one hit each.
Game 2
How It Happened
- In similar fashion to Game 1, the Cardinals jumped at their first at-bat with one run.
- The Continentals evened the score with one run in the second on a two-out single by Jackson Johns '24 and a one-run double to left center by O'Brien.
- Wesleyan had its best inning in the third with six runs on two hits, two hit batsmen, two walks and one error for a 7-1 advantage.
- Hamilton was able to score one run on one hit and an error in the fourth.
- Scoreless through the next two innings, Wesleyan tacked on one run in the seventh and two more in the eighth.
- The contest was called after eight complete innings due to darkness.
