ORLANDO, Fla. – The Hamilton College Continentals were edged 5-4 by Hobart College and
Connor Griff '25 recorded his 50
th career singles victory at the USTA National Campus on Saturday, March 16.
Hamilton (4-3 overall) had won its previous three matches. The Continentals' three losses have come against two ranked teams and a Division II program. Hobart is 34
th in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association Collegiate Tennis Rankings.
Griff is the second player in Hamilton men's tennis history with 50 singles wins. He dropped the first set in a tiebreaker but rebounded for a 6-3 decision in the second set and clinched the victory by a 10-7 score in the third set super-tiebreaker.
Anson Anderson '26 won in straight sets at second flight singles. Anderson is 5-2 in dual matches and 11-7 overall this season.
Tarun Korwar '27 outlasted his opponent in three sets at third flight singles. Korwar is an impressive 6-1 in dual matches and has the Continentals' second-best singles record at 12-3.
The doubles team of
Charlie Sternberg '27 and
Ignatio Tran '27 has been a rock all season and that continued against Hobart. The duo prevailed 8-6 at third flight and improved to 12-3 as a doubles team, which is easily Hamilton's best record this season.
The Continentals wrap up their Florida trip with non-conference matches against St. Lawrence University and Goucher College on Monday, March 18 at USTA National Campus.
