Men's tennis cruises to 9-0 win against SUNY Oneonta

Continentals fell 7-2 against Wesleyan in NESCAC opener

CLINTON, N.Y. – The Hamilton College Continentals split a pair of matches inside Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Sunday, March 10.
 
The Continentals (2-2, 0-1 NESCAC) started the long day with a 7-2 NESCAC loss against the Wesleyan University Cardinals, which is 30th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Collegiate Tennis Rankings. Hamilton ended the evening on a positive note with a 9-0 non-conference win against the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons.
 
Connor Griff '25 improved his singles record to 16-1 this season with victories against his Wesleyan and Oneonta opponents at first flight. The Cardinals' JT Bilski is the 39th-ranked singles player in Division III. Griff and Neal Gupta '26 teamed up for just the third time in an easy win at second flight doubles against Oneonta.
 
The pairing of Anson Anderson '26 and Tarun Korwar '27 triumphed at second flight doubles against Wesleyan and at first flight against Oneonta. Anderson is 12-4 in doubles play including a perfect 4-0 this spring.
 
Charlie Sternberg '27 and Ignatio Tran '27 improved to 9-3 as a doubles team with an 8-0 win at third flight against the Red Dragons. Tran didn't lose any games as he cruised in straight sets at sixth flight singles.
 
Anderson (second flight), Korwar (third), Gupta (fourth) and Mark Apsey '25 (fifth) breezed to singles victories against Oneonta. Korwar is second on the team with nine singles wins. Apsey was playing in his first singles match this season.
 
The Continentals play five matches in Florida this week starting with a pair on Thursday, March 14. Hamilton takes on Washington College at 10 a.m. at Racquet Club of Cocoa Beach before going up against Hampden-Sydney College at Lake Cane Tennis Center in Orlando at 7 p.m.
