BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin College's Maria Belardi registered 15 points off the bench and the Polar Bears defeated the Hamilton College Continentals, 70-46, inside Bowdoin's Morrell Gymnasium on Friday, Feb. 9.
Season Update
- With one game left in the regular season, Hamilton (16-7, 4-5 NESCAC) is tied for sixth place with Colby College in the conference standings. The top eight teams qualify for the NESCAC Women's Basketball Championship quarterfinals on Saturday, Feb. 17.
- Bowdoin (21-2, 8-1) is ranked 12th in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll and 18th in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division III Top 25 poll.
How It Happened
- Tied 8-8, the Polar Bears forged a 9-0 run for a 17-8 advantage with 3:31 left in the opening quarter.
- Taylor Lambo '26 scored a layup and Kendall Harris '27 drained a 3-pointer to cut Hamilton's deficit to four points at 22-18 with 7:33 left in the second stanza.
- Bowdoin pushed its advantage to nine points on four occasions over the final four minutes and held a 38-29 lead at the half.
- Piper Seamon '24 hit a layup to start the third quarter, but the Polar Bears scored the next two baskets for their first double-digit lead of the contest at 42-31 with 7:49 to go.
- Emily Hall '24 pulled the Continentals within eight points at 42-34 on a jumper with 6:32 remaining.
- Bowdoin quickly countered with a 14-0 run for a comfortable 22-point cushion with 2:03 left.
- The Polar Bears led by at least 17 points the rest of the way.
- Hamilton shot 29.2 percent (14-48) from the field and went 15-for-17 at the charity stripe.
- Bowdoin shot 38.8 percent (26-67) from the floor, including 36.4 percent (8-22) from 3-point land, and went 10-for-15 at the line.
- The Polar Bears held a 47-33 edge on the glass.
- Bowdoin received 32 points from its bench and the Continentals had two.
