Men's hockey wins 3-2 at Tufts on de Vries '27 overtime goal

Krock '26 scored twice and Tchor '27 had two assists for the Continentals

MALDEN, Mass. – Hamilton College's Devon de Vries '27 scored 1:15 into the sudden-victory overtime period and lifted the Continentals to a 3-2 NESCAC win against the Tufts University Jumbos inside the Malden Valley Forum on Saturday, Feb. 10.
 

Season Update

  • Hamilton (14-7-1, 9-6-1 NESCAC) received votes in this week's USCHO.com Division III Top 15 poll. The Continentals' last three games have been 3-2 decisions.
  • Tufts (11-9-2, 8-7-1) has lost its last three overtime games.
 

How It Happened

  • Hamilton dominated the extra period. The Continentals won both faceoffs and put four shots on goal including de Vries' game winner.
  • Max Resnick put the Jumbos in front at 3:34 of the first period.
  • Jackson Krock '26 tied the score 11:15 into the first, and gave Hamilton a 2-1 lead six seconds into a power play with 5:13 left in the second period after he won a faceoff.
  • The Continentals held onto their one-goal edge until late in the third period. Hamilton took a tripping penalty with 1:41 remaining and Tufts pulled its goaltender for a 6-on-4 advantage. Sam Miller drew the Jumbos even with 1:01 to go and sent the game to overtime.
 

Notes

  • Krock scored multiple goals for the second time in five games. He is second on the team with nine this season.
  • Including an assist on the first goal, de Vries recorded his fifth multi-point game this season. He is third on the team with 17.
  • Luke Tchor '27 picked up helpers on two of the Continentals' three goals. Tchor leads the NESCAC with 17 assists and 29 points.
  • Defenseman James Philpott '25 had an assist on Hamilton's second goal. Philpott is tied for seventh in the conference with 13.
  • Jack Grant '24 made 29 saves for the Continentals.
  • Ryan Sordillo '27 won a season-high 11 of 15 faceoffs and Max Bulawka '26 won 10 of 16 as Hamilton won 59 percent of the 75 faceoffs. Bulawka has won nearly 57 percent of his faceoffs this season.
  • Peyton Durand stopped 49 shots for Tufts, including 22 in the second period.
  • The Continentals held a commanding 52-31 shots on goal advantage.
  • Both teams went 1-for-3 on the power play.
  • Hamilton and the Jumbos played to a 3-3 tie in Clinton back on Jan. 13.

The Continentals host Middlebury College (7-11-4, 5-8-3) for another conference contest on Friday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m.
