No. 10 women's hockey falls for second time in as many days

Myziuk '28 scored her first collegiate goal for the Continentals in their 3-1 setback

CLINTON, N.Y. – Middlebury College's Sophia Will made 17 of her 35 saves in the third period and the Panthers defeated the Hamilton College Continentals 3-1 in a NESCAC game played inside Hamilton's Russell Sage Rink on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 16.
 

Season Update

  • The Continentals (0-2-0, 0-2 NESCAC) are ranked 10th in the USCHO.com Division III Top 15 poll.
  • Nationally ranked No. 3 Middlebury (2-0-0, 2-0) defeated Hamilton by the same score on Friday night, Nov. 15.
 

How It Happened

  • Hamilton grabbed a 1-0 lead 4:59 into the first period. Sarah Myziuk '28 forced a turnover behind the Panthers' goal and Katie Allen '26 skated with the puck out from behind the net to the bottom of the left faceoff circle. Allen threw the puck towards the low slot and Myziuk redirected it past Will from close range.
  • Olivia Gordon tied the score at 8:12 of the first and it remained 1-1 after the opening 20 minutes.
  • Britt Nawrocki put Middlebury in front 7:51 into the second period. Nawrocki blocked a shot, skated the length of the ice with the puck and scored from the left faceoff circle.
  • Raia Schluter added an insurance goal with 9:23 left in the third period. Sabrina Kim passed from the right faceoff circle into the low slot and Schluter tapped the puck into the back of the net from close range.
  • The Continentals pulled their goaltender for an extra skater with about two minutes remaining. Hamilton took five shots including four on goal, but Will didn't surrender the lead.

  • Myziuk scored her first collegiate goal.
  • Allen recorded her third career assist for the Continentals.
  • Sophia Testa '26 blocked four shots.
  • Teagan Brown '27 stopped 18 shots.
  • Hamilton held a 36-21 advantage in shots on goal.
  • The Panthers were 0-for-3 on the power play. The Continentals didn't score on a power play that lasted just 42 seconds.

Hamilton stays in the NESCAC as the Continentals play at Trinity College (2-0-0, 2-0) on Friday, Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m.
