Game Recap: Women's Volleyball | | Jim Taylor

Last weekend of volleyball season starts with loss to Williams

Continentals received double-doubles from McGeiver '27 and Trefren '28

CLINTON, N.Y. – Williams College's Keely Campuzano posted 19 kills, 15 digs and five blocks in the Ephs' four-set NESCAC win (25-19, 23-25, 25-23, 25-15) against the Hamilton College Continentals inside Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Friday, Nov. 1.

Season Update

  • The Continentals (4-14, 1-8 NESCAC) dropped their sixth straight match.
  • Williams (11-10, 4-5) had lost its previous four matches.

How It Happened

  • The Ephs broke open a tight first set with a 5-0 spurt for a seven-point cushion at 13-6. They led the entire set.
  • Neither team gained much separation in the second set as a three-point run was the largest for Hamilton (twice) and Williams (once). The last of those decided the set. The Continentals trailed 23-22 but a kill by Elodie McGeiver '27 and two Ephs attack errors tied the match at one set apiece.
  • Williams jumped out to a big lead in the third set thanks to one run of five consecutive points and another of six points. Hamilton clawed back to within one, but a blocking error by the Continentals gave the set to the Ephs.
  • The score was tied at 5-5 in the fourth set when Williams ran off nine of the next 10 points for a comfortable lead. A Hamilton attack error ended the match.

Notes

  • McGeiver registered her ninth double-double this season with 13 kills and 18 digs.
  • Ayzlinn Trefren '28 tied her season high with 13 kills and added 13 digs for her sixth double-double.
  • Kathryn Fox '27 smacked a career-best 10 kills and had just two errors in 20 attempts for a .400 hitting percentage.
  • Pati Cerda '26 and Claire Cooper '26 handed out 19 assists apiece. Cooper also contributed a career-high four blocks.
  • Mia Jessen '28 led all players with 19 digs. Jessen is 12th in the NESCAC with 3.70 digs per set.
  • Drew Stimson '25 helped lead the defense with five blocks, and Caitlin Allen '27 had four. The Continentals recorded 10 team blocks for the second straight match.
  • Helen Qian had 13 kills and four blocks for the Ephs.
  • Morgan Daetz passed out 46 assists, served four aces and came up with 14 digs.
