Lindgren-Streicher named head coach of Hamilton rowing program

Tufts alum took St. Mary's College of Maryland to NCAA championship in 2022

Hamilton College has selected Anna Lindgren-Streicher as its head men's and women's rowing coach, effective immediately. Lindgren-Streicher had previously held the same position at St. Mary's College of Maryland since 2018.

"I'm honored to join the Hamilton rowing program," Lindgren-Streicher said. "I would like to thank (Director of Athletics) Jon Hind, (Associate Athletic Director) Deidre Pierson, and the coaches who were part of this search committee for the opportunity to join Hamilton athletics. Both the men's and women's teams have made impressive competitive progress, and I look forward to working with (Assistant Coach) Meg Conan and all the student-athletes to continue the team's competitive trajectory. Throughout the interview process I was drawn by the strong sense of community on campus, within the department and within both teams, and I look forward to being part of the community. It's clear the student-athletes are dedicated and driven, and I'm excited to get started."

Lindgren-Streicher took over the St. Mary's College of Maryland program just two years after it was elevated from club to varsity status. In 2022 she led the women to their first Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) team championship and NCAA Division III championship qualification. Lindgren-Streicher was named the 2022 MARC Women's Coach of the Year after St. Mary's won the gold medal in the varsity eight and the silver medal in the second varsity eight at the MARC championships.

"Coach Lindgren-Streicher's emphasis on the importance of balance made her a great choice to lead our rowing program into the future," Jon Hind '80 said. "She has an appreciation for the student-athletes' holistic development and how that can blend successfully with a competitive team culture. While Anna recognized the recent accomplishments of our rowing program, she also articulated a vision to strengthen both teams. We welcome Coach Lindgren-Streicher to our team."

Prior to St. Mary's, Lindgren-Streicher was an assistant women's rowing coach from 2016 to 2018 at Division II Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where she was responsible for coaching the varsity fours and second varsity fours. She also coached at Tufts University from 2004 until 2016. At Tufts Lindgren-Streicher served a number of roles including associate head coach for men's rowing (2009-16), assistant coach for women's rowing (2008-09) and novice women's coach (2004-08).

Lindgren-Streicher has been a member of the NCAA Division III Women's Rowing Committee since 2021, and was elected chair of the committee in June 2023. She had also served as chair of the MARC Awards Committee since 2019.

Lindgren-Streicher rowed on the varsity team at Tufts from 2000 to 2004, and for the Mendota Rowing Club junior girls in Madison, Wis., from 1998 to 2000. She graduated cum laude from Tufts with a bachelor's degree in psychology.
