CLINTON, N.Y. – Bowdoin College's Andrew Boel threw for 347 yards and three touchdowns, and the Polar Bears defeated the Hamilton College Continentals 26-12 at Hamilton's Steuben Field on Saturday, Sept. 16.

How It Happened
- Bowdoin scored the first 26 points on two touchdowns in the first quarter, two field goals in the second quarter and one more touchdown on the second play of the fourth quarter.
- Luke Kurzum '27 put the Continentals on the scoreboard with an eight-yard touchdown pass to Jack Hoag '27 just inside the right edge of the end zone with 8:26 left in the fourth.
- Two personal foul calls on the Polar Bears helped Hamilton move the ball downfield during its first scoring drive.
- Michael Lau '24 caught a 14-yard pass from Kurzum on the left side of the end zone with 57.5 seconds remaining.
- Bowdoin was flagged for roughing the passer and quarterback Matt Banbury '24 gained 48 yards on the ground during the Continentals' last scoring drive
- Hamilton reached the Polar Bears' red zone once during the first three quarters. A 16-play, 51-yard drive ended with a turnover on downs at the Bowdoin 16 with 2:23 to go in the third.
Notes
- The Continentals finished with 185 yards rushing and Banbury had 99 of those yards.
- Kurzum was 13 of 24 passing for 84 yards and the two scores in his first collegiate action.
- Hoag and Lau recorded their first touchdown receptions at Hamilton.
- Tighe Hoey '25 boomed a career-long, 73-yard punt for a touchback in the first quarter.
- Cole Rivell '24 was credited with a game-high 11 tackles and a forced fumble for the Continentals.
- Linebacker Hayden Zeller '24 ended the Polar Bears' first drive with an interception at the Hamilton 8. The pick is the first for Zeller with the Continentals.
- All three of Boel's touchdown passes went for 30-plus yards.
- Bowdoin's Colton Fahey, who didn't catch a touchdown pass, finished with a game-high 94 yards on five receptions.
- Jotham Casey was 2 of 3 on field goal attempts, and made a 20-yarder as time ran out in the second quarter for a 19-0 halftime lead.
- Koy Price and Max Jacobs led the Polar Bears' defense. Price had nine stops and forced and recovered a fumble that led to a field goal. Jacobs also finished with nine tackles, including 1.5 sacks.
