Women's rowing third in varsity, 2nd varsity and 3rd varsity eights

Continentals host in-state rival Ithaca on April 29 on the Erie Canal

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Hamilton College finished in third place in the women's varsity eight grand final at the Skidmore College Sprints, which were held on Fish Creek on Saturday, April 22.
 
The Continentals also ended up in third place in the second and the third varsity eight grand final races. Hamilton hosts a regatta on the Erie Canal in Rome on Saturday, April 29. Racing begins at 10:30 a.m.
 
The Continentals' nationally ranked No. 12 varsity eight posted a time of 7:00.428 in the grand final. No. 2 Wellesley College (6:49.987) was the winner and No. 8 Smith College (6:57.776) was the runner-up. No. 13 Rochester Institute of Technology finished in fifth place. In the morning's second heat, Hamilton took second place in 7:07.698, while Wellesley led the way in 7:01.411. A total of 11 teams competed in the varsity eight.
 
"Great racing opportunity to see Wellesley and Smith again as well as many New York teams," Head Coach James Lister said. "The goal is to close the margins with the field, which we saw in our heats and finals. This weekend we race with Ithaca College at home. Looking forward to a home meet on our course."
 
Similar results played out in the second varsity eight as the Continentals landed in third place again with a time of 7:11.887. Wellesley (7:01.345) captured first place and Smith (7:10.718) was second. Hamilton claimed the top spot in their earlier heat with a time of 7:18.579. Nine teams had an entry in the second varsity eight.
 
The Continentals were third in their heat in the third/fourth varsity eight before finishing third again out of Lane 1 when all seven entries competed together in the day's final race. Hamilton's time was 7:21.267. Once again, Wellesley (7:12.228) was first and Smith (7:12.911) was runner-up.
 
The Continentals also had one of the five entries in the varsity four. Hamilton was third with a time of 8:37.923. Wellesley (8:12.025) and William Smith College (8:24.382) rounded out the top three.
