CLINTON, N.Y. – Tufts University's Peyton Durand made 36 saves and the Jumbos edged the Hamilton College Continentals 2-1 in a NESCAC game played at Hamilton's Russell Sage Rink on Saturday afternoon.
Season Update
The Continentals (12-9-1, 10-5-1 NESCAC) had won their previous four conference games. Tufts (8-13-1, 5-10-1) salvaged a split of the two-game season series after Hamilton won 5-2 in Massachusetts on Jan. 14.
How It Happened
- The Jumbos won with defense as they blocked 16 shots, killed seven power plays and received solid goaltending from Durand.
- The Continentals had more than 10 minutes of power-play time, including a 5-on-3 for 1:20 midway through the third period, but didn't convert.
- Harrison Bazianos scored the game-winner with 6:45 left in the third period. Bazianos also had the primary assist on Tufts' first goal at 11:49 of the first period when Cole Dubicki knocked in the rebound of a shot by Bazianos that was stopped by Charlie Archer '25.
- Max Bulawka '26 tied the score with 8:55 left in the second period. Bulawka won a faceoff in Hamilton's offensive zone back to Alex Danis '26, who passed the puck to Jeremy Smith '24. Smith maneuvered into the right faceoff circle and slid a pass over to Bulawka in the slot for a one-timer that Durand had no chance to stop.
- The Continentals pulled Archer for an extra skater for most of the last 2:40 of the third, but managed just two shots on goal.
Notes
- Bulawka scored a goal for the third straight game and is second on the team with seven.
- Danis picked up his seventh assist.
- Smith collected his first point this season.
- Archer made 10 of his 23 saves in the third period.
- Fred Allaire '23 won 17 of 27 faceoffs.
- Hamilton honored its eight seniors prior to the start of the game.
